Student Loan Finance Association Issues $300 Million in Education Loan Revenue Bonds

SEATTLE – April 8, 2004 – Student Loan Finance Association, a not-for-profit student loan secondary market, has issued $300 million in taxable education loan revenue bonds. The bond proceeds will be used to purchase student loans from a variety of lenders and to subsidize exceptional cost-saving benefits on these loans, saving borrowers money during repayment.

“The proceeds from these bonds support our efforts to promote access to education,” said Ralph Kosanovich, president and CEO. “At a time when college costs are soaring, these funds allow us to help make college more affordable so that more people can pursue their dreams.”

The Education Loan Revenue Bonds, Series 2004, are being issued as auction rate bonds and sold through public offering(s). The $276 million 2004 Senior Bonds have been rated AAA by Standard & Poor’s Rating Services, a division of McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. (S&P), and Fitch, Inc. (Fitch), and Aaa by Moody’s Investors Service (Moody’s). The $24 million Series B-1 Bonds were rated A by S&P and Fitch, and A3 by Moody’s. RBC Dain Rauscher is acting as sole underwriter for this bond issue.

Student Loan Finance Association is a not-for-profit corporation created in 2003. Located in Seattle, Washington, the company participates in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and provides financial assistance, support services and information to students, parents, schools and lenders. The company helps ease the burden of student loan repayment by offering flexible repayment options, loan consolidation and money-saving borrower incentives. Student Loan Finance Association has assisted more than 8,500 borrowers who have used these funds to pursue their educational goals.
